Concerned You May Have Alzheimer's?

Are you concerned that you may have Alzheimer's disease? If so, be sure to share this concern with a doctor. Once you talk to your doctor, you can ask about treatment and care.

Alzheimer's is a progressive disease. This means that it gets worse with time. A lot of people think that they may get Alzheimer's because a family member has it. But, familial Alzheimer’s disease is rare. It affects less than 10% of people with Alzheimer's. The most common risk factor is age.

Things to look for

Alzheimer's does not affect each person the same way. But there are some things that you may notice:

  • Memory loss
  • Repeating yourself
  • Difficulty naming items
  • Losing things or getting lost more often

It is also common to have trouble:

  • Using the phone
  • Dressing appropriately
  • Planning or preparing meals

You may know there is no cure for this disease. But, there are treatments that may help slow down the symptoms. One such treatment is Aricept. Among available treatments, Aricept is the only treatment proven effective for all stages of Alzheimer's—mild, moderate, and severe. Studies showed Aricept treats Alzheimer's symptoms, slowing the loss of overall function and improving cognition. So, ask your doctor about Aricept.
