About Aricept

Health Insurance and Aricept

When you care for a loved one, you may face many financial issues. And you may worry about how to pay for treatment. A lot of health insurance plans have a prescription drug benefit. Aricept is covered by many of these plans. Call your loved one's health insurance provider for details.

Some government programs may help pay for your loved one's Aricept treatment when private insurance is not available or does not cover these costs. Your loved one may be able to receive coverage through Medicare Part D, a new government prescription program.

Medicare and Medicare Part D

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people age 65 and older and for people who are disabled. Medicare also provides prescription drug coverage. This new coverage is known as Medicare Part D. It’s generally open to everyone on Medicare. If your loved one qualifies for Medicare, they may be able to join. This is the case even if they have been receiving drug coverage through Medicaid.

Here are 2 ways to learn more about Medicare and Medicare Part D:

  • You can call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) to ask questions or to request a free booklet. Be sure to have your loved one’s Medicare card when you call. It may also help to have a list of your loved one’s medicines and the name of their pharmacy.
  • You can visit Medicare’s Web site to sign up for Medicare Part D or to get free information about the program. Visit Medicare.

Medicaid

Medicaid is a program that pays for medical care for some people and families with low incomes. Prescription drug coverage through Medicaid has changed. Most people age 65 and up will now get their coverage through Medicare Part D. To learn more about Medicaid, you can go to their Web site, or call the toll-free number provided. Visit Medicaid.

Call the Medicaid Hotline at 1-877-267-2323, extension 5 (toll-free).

Partnership for Prescription Assistance

Some patients may be able to get help with prescription drug costs through the company that makes their medicines. This program brings companies, doctors, and others together to help patients get the treatments they need.
